Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure Welcome DinnerTaronga Zoo welcomed 302 of Oprah’s special guests with a gala dinner on the 8th December 2010. Arriving by boat at the Taronga Zoo wharf, the group were whisked into the zoo to be formally welcomed by the Minister for Tourism Jodi McKay and Zoo Director Cameron Kerr. They were then treated to a special ‘Free Flight Birdshow’ and delighted by the array of Australian birds demonstrating their dazzling flying talents against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House.
The party then moved to a massive Australian-themed marquee where they met and learned more about iconic Australian animals including koalas, echidnas and quokkas. The menu for the evening was specially designed by Jeremy Cheyne and showcased Australia’s best produce and the wines were selected from within NSW wineries.
Zoo Director, Cameron Kerr, said “We’re extremely proud to welcome Oprah and her guests to Australia and so pleased that they could meet and appreciate Australia’s unique and precious wildlife here at Taronga Zoo. “
