Newly designed menus by leading celebrity chef Sean Connolly…
With the increased interest in food and wine over the last several years and the success of many cooking television shows, Restaurant Associates understands that your event is a culinary experience for your guests. Restaurant Associates is extremely fortunate to have access to some of the best chefs in the world. The continued flair, innovation and dining experience that is injected throughout our business ensures that we continue to inspire our customers and our chefs.
Leading Celebrity Chef and Restaurant Associates Ambassador Sean Connolly has created a stunning new function menu with matching wines.
Sean Connolly’s passion for cooking was evident the day he enrolled in his Yorkshire school’s home economics class – the only boy to do so. Inspired by his grandmother’s cooking, Connolly started his chef’s apprenticeship at the Pennine Hilton in Leeds, working for free two nights a week at the age of thirteen.
He has since then owned and worked in several leading restaurants including his appointment at Star City’s Astral in 1995. He successfully worked to position the restaurant as one of Sydney’s top fine-dining destinations, being awarded a Chef’s Hat for an impressive five consecutive years.
His latest venture with restaurateur Frazer Short, The Morrison in Sydney’s CBD, is a New York style restaurant and oyster bar and is already a huge success.
Sean works closely with the team at Taronga and is often seen on site at events.

Case StudyOprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure Welcome Dinner
Taronga Zoo welcomed 302 of Oprah’s special guests with a gala dinner on the 8th December 2010. Arriving by boat at the Taronga Zoo wharf, the group were whisked into the zoo to be formally welcomed by the Minister for Tourism Jodi McKay and Zoo Director Cameron Kerr. They were then treated to a special ‘Free Flight Birdshow’ and delighted by the array of Australian birds demonstrating their dazzling flying talents against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House.
The party then moved to a massive Australian-themed marquee where they met and learned more about iconic Australian animals including koalas, echidnas and quokkas. The menu for the evening was specially designed by Jeremy Cheyne and showcased Australia’s best produce and the wines were selected from within NSW wineries.
Zoo Director, Cameron Kerr, said “We’re extremely proud to welcome Oprah and her guests to Australia and so pleased that they could meet and appreciate Australia’s unique and precious wildlife here at Taronga Zoo. “
